Ella Cathey has several years of enterprise PR experience and specializes in managing day-to-day tasks including content development, media relations, writing, social media management, and research. Ella has worked with clients spanning a wide variety of industries ranging from EdTech to cloud infrastructure and big data.
Prior to joining CommStrat, Ella worked at Cathey Communications where she participated in strategic planning, writing, research, content programming and account service support for clients including the Open Infrastructure Foundation, Linode and Trilio Data, among others. She was especially involved in the process of creating user stories, playing a role in everything from initial interviews to drafting and finalizing the content. Ella has written numerous other pieces of content on behalf of clients, which have appeared on ChannelFutures, VMBlog, and client blogs. Ella’s writing has also been published under a personal byline on Superuser, an online publication covering open infrastructure.
Beyond writing, Ella has created relationships with key media and analysts, and helped to place client news in publications such as TechCrunch, The New Stack, CRN and VentureBeat. She has also copy edited technical writing and been responsible for coordinating registration and coverage tracking for in-person and virtual industry events.
Ella holds a master’s degree in Commerce with a concentration in Marketing & Management from the University of Virginia. She also earned her bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of Virginia.
